About

Barkha Textiles is run by Atlanta, GA resident Barkha Malik. An Indian native, Barkha relocated to the United States with her husband in 1989 and began her career in the textile industry in 1991. A lover and collector of all handmade textiles, she has been working with artisans and weavers in India, Nepal, Bangladesh and the US for many years. In that time, she has collected a great body of textile art and natural textiles. Recently she has worked to expand her collection of sustainable textiles. Her main goal is to promote and preserve some of the dying traditional art forms in the developing countries! Barkha has made personal visits to all of the manufacturers she sources from to personally guarantee that everything we stock adheres to both eco-friendly and fair trade guidelines.

    Hi Ms. Malik,
My name is Juanita Holmes. I am a fashion design student at Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, and I am working on a project for a scholarship to develop a line of eco-friendly handbags and accessories. I am in the process of gathering information about textiles and materials that could be used in this project. I would love to get your feedback on some of my ideas or even any advise that you think would be helpful. Thank you!

      Hi Juanita,

Thank You for contacting me. I would love to help you out in any way I can.
I am always available to SCAD students who wish to contact me for any eco-fabric advice or small minimum needs. Additionally, I will be at SCAD Atlanta soon to introduce my fabrics to the fashion design students who wish to purchase small quantities for their school projects or other needs.
Please feel free to call or email me with any questions you have,
      Barkha
